4 Mini Greenhouse Ideas

Just because your garden is small, doesn’t mean you can’t have a greenhouse. They can be of such great benefit to gardeners that nobody should miss out. A greenhouse is a great place for nursing poorly plants back to their former glory, for growing fresh herbs and vegetables, for getting seeds started early, for propogating plants and to extend the growing season a little longer. Overwintering plants is also possible in a greenhouse. For those of you who don’t have room for a full sized greenhouse, why not try out one of the following ideas?

Recyle Old Windows

Old windows are a great idea when you want a smaller greenhouse. If you’re about to have your windows replaced then save the old ones. Or ask friends or family to keep theirs. Alternatively, visit a reclamation yard where you’re bound to find some. With five old windows and a wooden pallet you can create a functional greenhouse. If the window frames are wooden you won’t need to make a frame. Move it around wherever you want to and dismantle it when no longer needed.

A Clear Plastic Bin

Take a look at YouTube, and you’ll sure to find some instructions. An ordinary plastic bin is all you need, as long as it’s clear. If the bin is deep enough you’ll be able to add a rack inside and double the growing space.

Wooden Pallets

Wooden pallets are such a versatile product. Not only can they be made into coffee tables, beds and chairs. They also make a very efficient mini greenhouse. One pallet will be needed for the floor, and you’ll need slats from another pallet to create a triangle. Cover all the sides but one with plastic sheeting and make sure it’s secure. Attach hinges to ensure ease of access.

Large Photo Frames

It’s possible to build a table top greenhouse using large photo frames. Plans are available on the internet, and it’s amazingly ease to create. Even if you’re not particularly handy with tools. A warm and safe environment can be quickly created, and you’ll be able to provide some extra TLC for any houseplants that need it or to showcase your houseplants outdoors.

Garden Club London is able to help with all these designs and will be more than happy to offer heaps of other blooming great ideas.
